Strengthening Organizations
Higher Education
Through its higher education work to strengthen organizations,
The Duke Endowment invests in building the infrastructure of four select
colleges and universities. In our efforts to improve facilities, systems,
operations and long-term programs, we are particularly interested in
supporting opportunities that show great promise for long-term gains.
We value projects and programs that increase institutional and programmatic quality,
effectiveness and sustainability. We assess both immediate costs and continuing
expenses needed to sustain funded programs, and base our funding decision on the
potential for institutional improvement.
Applications in this category may include, but are not limited to, grants
for academic programs, funding for new or improved systems, endowed professorships
and student scholarships. Approved grants in this application category will be
asked to identify specified measures of the programs and overall performance of the institution.
