The following continuing education programs, offered by Duke Divinity School, are sponsored by The Duke Endowment. The programs are designed to provide essential health ministry content to pastors, nurses interested in congregational nursing and leadership, and those interested in lay health ministry.

Health Ministries Leadership Course

Fall 2008 Leadership Course
August 17-19, 2008

Three-day leadership course designed to meet the needs of health ministries and congregational nursing leaders and pastors. The course will include seminars and workshops in:

  • Creating a Vision for Caring Practices
  • Professional Practice Issues
  • Community Development
  • Human Resource Development
  • Financial Oversight
  • Outcome Evaluation

The course will offer participation in experiential learning in theological reflection and care and discernment.

The program will begin early Sunday afternoon and conclude mid-day on Tuesday.

Cost: $290 - includes 2 nights lodging (double occupancy), meals, and course materials. A single room may be requested (if available) for an additional fee. 20 Contact Hours available for attending.

Location: Aqueduct Conference Center, Chapel Hill, NC.

Health Ministries and
Congregational Nursing Course

This one-day conference provides an introductory overview of health ministries and congregational nursing. Pastors and laity in health ministry leadership are invited.

Cost: $75 - includes registration, meals, and course materials.

Thursday, December 4 - Tuesday, December 9, 2008
This unique six-day Health Ministries and Congregational Nursing retreat course includes the basic congregational nursing curriculum. Participants reside in a cottage and share meals, free time, daily morning and evening meditations, and classes.
Cost: $750 - includes five nights lodging, meals, textbooks, course materials
